Tierra Vida Construction

About

Maria Piñon, owner

One owner, on the job, accountable for the paperwork and the punch list.

The company

Why Tierra Vida exists

Maria Piñon runs Tierra Vida Construction from Las Cruces, where the company works on the same streets it does business on.

The company was built around a simple position: one owner stays on your job. Maria walks the sites, prices the scope, holds the schedule and handles the punch list. When something on the job needs a decision, you are not waiting on a chain of people to find out who owns it.

Tierra Vida takes on ground-up homes on your lot, whole-home remodels, kitchens and baths, additions and casitas, patios and outdoor living, concrete and site work, roofing and stucco, and commercial tenant improvement. Residential and light commercial, in the valley and the towns around it.

Tierra Vida — land of life. It is the name on the sign, and it is the standard the work is held to: houses that are still standing straight in this sun and this wind in thirty years.

Maria is a Hispanic, woman-owned business owner. Tierra Vida is pursuing the certifications that let public agencies and prime contractors count the company toward their own contracting goals — see the credentials panel.

What we hold to

Three rules we do not bend

  • Build it like the wind and the sun and the rain are going to test it, because in this valley they will.

  • Write it down. Scope, allowances, changes, schedule — if it is not in writing it is not a plan.

  • Clean site, straight lines, doors that close. The details people do not know to look for are the ones that decide how the house ages.

Credentials

License, insurance and how to check them

New Mexico contractor's license

Ask for it and it comes in writing: the license number, and the state's public lookup where you can verify it yourself. This site does not print a license number, coverage limit or bond amount it cannot document today.

Insurance and bonding

Nothing here is claimed as current. For any project you are quoted, the carrier, the coverage limits and — where the project requires it — the bond amount are put in writing for you before work begins.

Minority, woman-owned and small-business certifications

Tierra Vida is a Hispanic, woman-owned business. Certification applications and registrations for public-agency and prime-contractor work are handled as a company program — status is stated here only once each certification is actually issued, never before.
